  1. I don’t mean to crush your hopes and dreams but there is something called strike doubling which is different from a double die. strike doubling is the type of doubling most often confused with, and very often misidentified as, a double die or repunched mintmark. Not only do novices confuse this type of doubling with double dies, but specialists disagree as to what the correct terminology should be. This 1969-s happens to be a case of strike doubling, not a double die. the real 1969-s double die

  2. has extremely strong doubling evident on all obverse lettering and numbers. this 1969-s exhibits doubling on the date and mint mark only. Whenever the date and mintmark both are doubled, odds are that the doubling is strike doubling. If you do a quick google search for the actual 1969s double die, you will notice it has extremely noticeable doubling in LIBERTY, as well as in IN GOD WE TRUST. if this were the actual 1969s penny, it would be worth about $50,000 – $100,000 based on its condition.

  3. this coin has a mint mark WITHOUT any doubling, look at the desc. box lol but I will make another video of it shortly up close. besides, your comment does not say “must” or “has to have”, you state “odds are” which is not very concrete talk…we’ll see though, either way it’s a great coin 🙂 thanks for wathcign ans keep an eye out for the close up vid tomorrow 🙂

  4. if you truly believe this is the 1969s double die then send it to get graded. it will only cost $20 – $40 but if it IS the 1969s double die it will be worth $50k – 100k as I said earlier.

  5. the close up video of the coin is uploading as I type 🙂 I think that having video in 1080p HD should let everyone see, maybe the pro’s can watch and comment and we can all walk through the “exam process together on youtube. Watch the video in about an hour and tell me what you think 🙂

  6. number of known specimens of this 1969-S doubled die penny is only about 25 coins.
The 1969-S penny discussed here was ultimately graded PCGS MS-64 Red, which is tied with one other specimen for the finest known. It sold at a Heritage auction for $126,500 on January 10, 2008

  8. Yes I agree. The actual doubling occurs in the lettering of ”IN GOD WE TRUST” and ”LIBERTY”. Sorry to let you know it’s not the double die. Google it you will see a very good example the actual DDO coin.

  9. The mechanical doubling can really full you. I recently found a 1998 D Kennedy half dollar that I thought was a double die turned out to be just a mechanical doubling error.  I’m still searching for that elusive 2013 double die. They’re not valuable they’re selling for between five and eight dollars. But definitely would be a real nice find. This definitely fun to find the old wheat back pennies. Even though most of them are only worth about 10 cents. I just seen recently a coin roll Hunter has found a 1909s VDB. It was in poor condition but Stillwater great find. The great thing about this hobby is there no investment risk. The worst that can happen issue breakeven on your cash.

  10. Sorry to say that the doubling would not be on the face if it was a true ddo. I did the exact same thing when I first got into coin collecting, and almost gave myself an aneurysm. LOL. This is strike doubling, but it sure motivates an individual to keep looking. HH.

  11. Good Am! Im asking how much worth the 1898 morgan dollar if it is real and 1983 one cent lincolin coins. Hope you answer my question. have a good day.
